Beyond the Next Election 📽 : Science & Knowledge

It strikes me as beyond dispute that many of our problems stem from failing to look at the long term. That is, collectively as a civilisation. Short-term aims such as maximising profits and winning the next election increasingly subsume other considerations, beyond our present horizon.

One way to overcome this is an appreciation for Basic Science and a respect for the acquisition of knowledge for it's own sake. I highly recommend this entertaining video (skip to 6:00), as Stephen Colbert and Neil Degrasse Tyson explore these topics. Neil has an inexhaustible enthusiasm for science and makes this subject readily accessible to the layman. It's one of the most interesting hours of content you will watch this year.
